the real goat
I know, I know -- I'm out of touch. But I just read about
href="http://www.mypetgoat.com/">mypetgoat.com and how the
href="http://www.ledgeofliberty.com/2004/06/mystery_of_the_.html">Mystery
of "The Pet Goat" [was] Revealed. The "Mystery Revealed" is what makes
blogs so great, we can all be journalists in our own little (or big) way.

It's interesting that this seven minutes of reading has become a campaign
issue. George Bush said a long time ago that he had to keep his face
under control and read on normally in order not to frighten the children
he was reading to. If he had leaped up in alarm, could he have changed
anything? Surely there are more important things to discuss in this
election!

It's not that he stayed there, it's that he stayed there with a look of
utter and total bewilderment. He doesn't even open the book until the kids
are well in to it. Getting up, apologizing/excusing himself, and calmly
walking out would have been considerably better.
I don't think it's a campaign issue, I just hadn't heard of the actual
book until recently.

The seven minutes has been a campaign issue lately, but you're right, the
name of the book hadn't been widely publicized. In a contest between 'My
Pet Goat' and 'The Billy Goats Gruff' for excitement, the latter surely
would win!
